BeyondProd is Google’s approach to cloud-native security for internal systems. BeyondProd applies the security principle of zero trust to services and infrastructure, ensuring that all components are verified and authenticated. Binary Authorization for Borg is one of these examples, a deploy-time enforcement check used to reduce insider risk by ensuring that production software and configuration deployed at Google is properly reviewed and authorized, especially when that code has the ability to access sensitive data. We demonstrate how Binary Authorization can be used to create a pipeline similar to Google’s to protect the end-to-end software supply chain.
With Anthos, Google Cloud users can take this philosophy, the emphasis of trusted services and infrastructure, and apply it to their deployments. This session will cover how Binary Authorization and Anthos Service Mesh can be used together to apply a zero trust model to deployments, secure software supply chain, and ensure only trusted workload can run.
