In this episode, Brad talks to the EVP of Business Strategy from the Miami Heat, Matthew Jafarian. They discuss how Matthew builds consensus to drive modernization projects, how to use Persian idioms in everyday conversation, and the business value of using standardized platforms and ecosystems rather than customizing everything.
Matthew also discusses how to decide what technology to keep or delete when streamlining, securing, and modernizing your infrastructure. There's even a diversion into the back-catalog of CBA teams and their famously idiosyncratic names.
Also, in a Shiproom first, a second guest dials in to discuss how The Heat actively foster a data-driven culture, as well as the deliberate and consistent emphasis their organization places on diversity and the positive business outcomes which come from this. Special thanks to Edson Crevecoeur (VP, Strategy & Data Analytics) for joining us!
Other discussion topics: Snakes, Sizzler, Conference Titles, livers, spaghetti, The Provo Pork Bellies, Farsi, rascals, and boating ascots.
