Launched in 2016, Octopus Energy is an energy tech pioneer and the UK's latest tech 'unicorn' that built its industry leading cloud-based energy technology platform, Kraken, entirely on AWS. Kraken is a secure, scalable platform that supports energy company operational efficiency and outstanding customer service. Kraken is designed to support a smarter grid by efficiently providing customer access to cheaper electricity when renewable energy is abundant. Octopus Energy has leveraged AWS’s global cloud infrastructure to rapidly scale the Kraken platform which is now licensed to serve 17 million energy accounts worldwide, including customers of E.ON, Good Energy and Origin Energy.
