XR’s place in the metaverse, how hardware and software must evolve

The metaverse is bigger than any single technology, it’s comprised of dozens of different ways to interact with each other and have new experiences. For VR, AR, and XR to play a prominent part of the metaverse for consumers and businesses, there needs to be vertical and horizontal evolution in technology – 5G and super-fast WiFi enable the offloading of processing power, low latency enables more realistic interactions, single sign-on removes friction when moving between worlds. There’s never been a more exciting time for XR but there is no silver bullet that will drive the industry forward.
