Adelaide Airport Limited’s user case for the emerging Nokia technology aims to introduce and utilise 5G and AR/VR systems to improve inspection and safety monitoring on-site, using real-time, high-quality and interference free video streaming.

Both Adelaide Airport and Parafield Airport sites are situated approximately 30 minutes apart, with relevant resources dispersed between terminals. In the event of a system outage or major performance issues, workers are directed to attend site, appraise the situation and arrange for the issue to be addressed. In this instance, multiple trips are conducted, first to identify the problem and then allocating the appropriate team to resolve the issue.

It is envisaged that 5G capabilities at both locations would allow workers to support operations at Parafield by deploying teams that had real-time video streaming from their vehicle. Over time we expect to augment this capability with other analysis tools to enable additional services such as asset monitoring, even pavement expectation, all allowing timely decision making by our teams.

Discovering opportunities far beyond consumer focus, Nokia envisages huge opportunities on the horizon for industries along the likes of energy, mining, transport, fire safety, search, and rescue to provide improvements in operations and safety.

Nokia is a global leader in 5G technology and has developed a capability to enable enterprises to deliver advanced business solutions.
