Swisscom brings ultra-fast broadband with Nokia’s FWA FastMile 5G Receiver for customers

Bringing ultra-fast broadband to every home and business in Switzerland is Swisscom’s mission. In this customer review video, Swisscom explains how they have added fixed wireless access (FWA) to their technology mix to deliver Gigabit broadband services where they cannot connect fiber.

With Nokia FastMile 5G FWA, they are able to solve two use cases: residential broadband and business services. With several thousand residential customers already connected, the feedback is overwhelmingly positive, with many upgrading to higher-tier internet services as a result of the faster speeds. There is also strong uptake amongst business customers who particularly appreciate the additional failover service, which guarantees connectivity even if there is a fault in the fixed access network.

Swisscom worked with Nokia to tailor the solution, so FastMile integrates seamlessly into their network and their customer operations with Swisscom SIM cards and user guides. A key requirement was customer self-install. FastMile has a window-mount design with adhesive strips that make it simple to mount on the outside of a window.
