City of Turin: How to use satellites and cloud to build sustainable communities

How can satellite images, artificial intelligence algorithms and machine learning be combined with the sustainability needs of an urban community like that of Turin? Latitudo40 and Torino City Lab, in collaboration with AWS, have created an application that provides indicators of urban sustainability through the processing of large quantities of data from satellite images and the comparison with other surveys. "The possibility of creating a digital twin of the city to identify the most suitable areas for the application of Nature Based Solutions and monitor their effectiveness is an example of how satellite technologies can make a huge contribution to cities to be increasingly sustainable and resilient to climate change".
