Samsung's new Galaxy S flagship phone, dubbed the Galaxy S IV, came out to the public this week with a very similar design to that of the Galaxy S III. The only major design tweaks that Samsung made were more squared off edges, and of course that beautiful 5-inch 1080p screen. Last September when the Galaxy S III was dropped against the iPhone 5, it was a complete wash in the iPhone 5's favor. 7 months after the iPhone 5's launch, lets see if Samsung stepped up their game in building a more durable phone.

Thanks for watching and as always, make sure to stay tuned to TechSmartt for more Galaxy goodness.

Notes from the creator:

Alright, to begin, when I produced this video I did it without a bias in mind. I am fairly experienced user with iOS and Android. I own multiple devices of both, and know how to use each one fairly well; even beyond just the stock experience. I do not personally rank either phone or operating system over the other. They both have their positives to them, but they also both have their negatives as well. The point of this video was not to portray an opinion of which phone I enjoy more, or which device I believe is better. The point of this video was to simply show the physical strength of each device and how it holds up to external abuse. I also do not state that because one phone withstood more damage that it makes it an all-around better device, so please do not put words in my mouth saying I do.

As for the drops, each one was trying to be life like as possible; however, I have no control of gravity and the laws of physics so I cannot plan exactly how the phone will make contact with the ground. I can attest though the the iPhone did land straight on the front glass during the first 10 foot drop, even though that was not initially intended. So, yes, each phone did land directly on the screen from 10 feet up.

The entire premises of this video is to inform (YOU) the consumer simply which phone can withstand drops, and not much else. You can then make your own decision on which phone you wish to favor and/or buy from there.

Also, for some reason a lot of people think I have a screen shield of some sort on the iPhone 5, I can promise you, I do not. I never had and never will use one. I like to keep my iPhone bare naked and that is screen included. Must have just been the way the light was hitting it at that time of day.

We appreciate your listening and hope you are able to read this before commenting.
