James Phillips of University of Illinois is part of the Beckman Institute research group which is funded by the NIH to simulate bimolecular systems. He has extensive supercomputer background (10 years) and has also looked at Cell, FPGA and various other technologies to accelerate his work. His officemate is John Stone and he relates the story of how they were first introduced to CUDA and GPU computing.
