3D printing firm Robo 3D has showcased a range of new products at CES 2016 in Las Vegas. These include the sub-$2000 ROBO 3D R2 consumer-level 3D printer and the sub-$1000 ROBO 3D R2 Mini entry-level 3D printer.
The most significant product brought to the table by ROBO 3D is its new ROBO 3D R2 3D printer, a high-end consumer level printer which will retail for under $2000. Aimed “serious home hobbyists or small to medium business applications”, the R2 provides 1,000 cubic inches of build space, 300mm per second print speeds and dual-material extrusion. The R2 can print in PLA and ABS, as well as filament infused with wood, carbon and bronze. It is also compatible with a set of add-ons for extruding ceramics and food decorations and for laser engraving.
Taking its place next to the R2 is the ROBO 3D R2 Mini, a smaller, less expensive alternative to the R2. Retailing for under $1000, the R2 Mini is aimed at entry-level consumers creating simpler, smaller projects. The 10.5 cubic inch printer provides full portability, whilst offering a respectable build size of 125 cubic inches. It too is capable of 300mm per second print speeds, and is compatible with a range of filaments. A handy feature of the R2 Mini is its WiFi and mobile connectivity, allowing users to manage 3D prints from a smartphone.
