iPod Touch (2012) 1st Impressions & Hands On
Ever since its September, 2007 introduction, Apple's iPod touch has largely remained the same, hovering in that "iPhone without the phone" grey area. This generation, announced alongside the iPhone 5, is more of the same, but it's the biggest update to the lineup yet. And that's enough to take notice. Similar to Apple's newest smartphone — with some previous generation guts thrown into the mix — the 2012 iPod touch comes with a beautiful 4-inch Retina display, iOS 6, 5-megapixel camera, A5 chip and 32 or 64GB of internal storage. But perhaps the most notable difference, aside from the thinner frame and taller screen, is the variety of colors available to consumers. If you've used the iPhone 5, or even a previous iPhone or iPod touch, the experience will immediately feel familiar. Apple hasn't veered too far astray from its solid hardware/software formula, and for the most part Apple's fifth year with the iPod touch is all about the redesign. So how does the new device handle? How does it feel in the hand?
