Shooting outdoors in natural light can be tricky so we’ll give you a few tips on how to shoot great looking portraits outdoors using natural light - the light of the sun.
For harsh or high contrast effect you can shoot portraits in direct sunlight but sometimes this is not ideal. You can create silhouette shots by placing your subject between you and the setting sun. Use outdoor walls to reflect diffused light. Shoot in the shade or on an overcast day for ambient sunlight which provides softer lighting effects. Shoot during the golden hour or magic hour (around sunrise or sunset) for orange and yellow light.
