AWS London Summit 2018 - Breakout Session:
The journey to cloud has many challenges, some more obvious than others. At AWS we provide advice to a diverse range of customers. They each have their own unique stories to tell about the difficulties and rewards that come from the change in organisational culture required to take advantage of the new levels of agility provided by AWS services.

Meet some of our customers, including the Met Office, who have walked this path and share their stories of the real-world challenges they face, and how cultural change is an essential part of the cloud journey. How do I enable my staff to build services quickly without layers of process to approve spend? How do we make sure our Compliance team can sleep at night while devolving control to our Dev teams? What does a Cloud Operations team look like in a real-world organisation?

The standard until now has been that new systems demanded financial commitment at the very beginning of a project, then moved onto minimal, pre-approved run rate and “hidden” cost in terms of infrastructure support. We can now take a much less rigid path with high agility and minimal start-up costs; however new models are required to ensure a unified approach across multiple teams moving at pace.
