A Tale of Two Cloud Journeys

In this session, you will be given a take on the 'tale of two cities' which intertwines the stories of two mission owners within the same Federal Branch. One had a failed program while the other is one of the most successful Federal customers using AWS to date.

The failed customer attempted to build a design without following the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), engaging AWS support, or having a Well Architected review until the government stipulated it. Instead of training their staff and looking to leverage the value of cloud, they merely attempted to 'lift-and-shift' on their application stack.

The successful customer began with training their staff, held cloud migration workshops, conducted pilots, and refactored applications. While leveraging Well Architected reviews, they successfully were able to level-set and grade their progress throughout their cloud journey.
