The Shiproom / IGM / Episode 29
This week Brad chats with Keran McGuire, the VP of Infrastructure at the Canadian financial services firm, IGM Financial.
They discuss the work she has done to modernize the technology behind one of the biggest financial organizations in Canada, and the decisions she made to unify its infrastructure to improve security and productivity in a highly regulated industry.
Keran also answers questions about Canadian inventions (like basketball), while detailing the success IGM has had using the Microsoft Managed Desktop (MMD) service. Keran goes into detail about the requirements she had for MMD while evaluating it, and how it has helped her improve the end-user experience and the security of her organization.
Keran also shares her thoughts on how she chooses products and services based on selecting a best-of-breed tool vs. choosing the right ecosystem, as well as why she champions STEM education for girls.
Other discussion topics: Electron microscopes, dog breakfast, CPR, juice boxes, Java, gibberish, Microsoft Teams, meat-lovers pizza, Depeche Mode, honeycomb, hats, peach baskets, typing sound effects, walkie-talkies, #ThruTheChart, high five choreography, bears, guitars, and Ninja Turtles.
