Stephen Voorhees, Vice President of Platform, Dropbox discusses how when Dropbox experienced a capacity crunch in its on-premises metadata store, it developed a new managed storage system called Alki on AWS that improves performance while cutting costs. Dropbox connects all the content, tools and workflows for work and personal use to help users more seamlessly organize, find, and do more with their most important digital content. Dropbox developed Alki quickly, using Amazon S3 and Amazon DynamoDB.
