Hexagon uses Amazon EKS to operate a container based visualization platform to that allows their users to upload, process and display spatial data. The solution can be used for example to visualize entire cities in 3D, including 3D city meshes. Large datasets are uploaded to and stored in Amazon S3. Decoupled micro services pick up transformation jobs from Amazon SQS. The variety of EC2 instance types available allows Hexagon to maximize speed, efficiency and cost for the resource intensive transformation pipelines.
