BASF Digital Farming: Productionizing ML with a Cross-Account Model Deployment Solution

BASF Digital Farming develops software and hardware solutions for farmers to feed the world more sustainably. For their computer vision-based plant disease detection application called xarvio® SCOUTING they developed “XAMD” (cross-account model deployment) - a solution to facilitate the productionizing of machine learning models for scale and reliability. They leverage various features of Amazon SageMaker (e.g. training, model registry, endpoints) to build and deploy machine learning models at scale and use XAMD, which is based on AWS StepFunctions, AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway, to transition models through different AWS accounts into production.
