This video walks you through the cloning process using the Acronis cloning software included in select Kingston SSD products.
Before we begin, ensure your SSD is properly connected to your system. Desktop users can install their Kingston SSD in their system before the cloning process. Your system’s user manual can help with installation, or try our SSD desktop installation videos:

An external USB SSD enclosure may be required for notebook users to start the cloning process. If so, connect the enclosure to your notebook first.
Downloading Acronis
First, download the Acronis software. The link is on the Acronis Activation Keycard included in select Kingston products. From there, click on the ‘Download Acronis’ link to start the download. When finished, locate the Acronis True Image app and double-click the file to begin installation.
Step 1 – Start application
Click on the Install button to proceed. Once installation is complete, click on ‘Start Application’. After accepting the License agreement, you’ll be asked to enter in your 16-character activation key located on the included Acronis keycard enclosed with your new Kingston SSD. After entering the activation key, you will sign into your Acronis account. Click on the ‘Create Account’ link if you don’t already have one. Account creation requires your name, email, and a password. After entering these, click the ‘Create Account’ button. An email will confirm your account creation. With setup complete, we can proceed to the cloning process. Ensure a new Kingston SSD is properly connected to your system and that you’ve launched the Acronis cloning software before proceeding.
Step 2 – Select clone method
Under Tools, select ‘Clone Disk’ and the Clone Disk wizard will appear to guide you through the process. Select ‘Automatic’ and click ‘Next’ to continue.
Step 3 – Select source disk
You will choose the source disk (the disk your operating system is on). It’s vital to select the correct source disk, or permanent data loss may result. When you’ve checked and double-checked you have the proper drive selected as your source disk, click ‘Next’ to continue.
Step 4 – Select destination disk
Choose your new Kingston SSD as the destination disk. If your destination disk contains data, you may see a warning appear. Confirm you’ve selected the proper source and destination drives, and continue only if you are confident you no longer need the data currently on the destination disk. When you’ve selected your destination disk, click ‘Next’ to continue.
Step 5- Select cloning method
If you plan to replace the current operating system disk (source disk) with your new Kingston SSD (destination disk), please select the ‘To replace a disk on this machine’ option. Then click ‘Next’ to continue.
Step 6 – Summary
A summary screen will now appear displaying the new partition structure of the SSD. The original partition size will be automatically scaled based on the new SSD size. For example, if the new drive is smaller in size than the original hard drive, the partitions will shrink accordingly. If the new drive is larger, the partitions will be enlarged proportionally. Select ‘Proceed’ to continue. You will need to restart your computer so the Cloning process can continue.
Step 7 – Cloning complete
You are now ready to use your new solid state drive. For desktop users, your system will be configured with two bootable devices. You must enter your system’s BIOS and set the boot priority so that the SSD will be the first device the system boots from. Notebook users will now be ready to disconnect the USB enclosure and install the new SSD into your notebook. For installation guidance, please refer to your notebook’s user manual.
