Welcome to Fire TV. In this video, we explain how to watch movies and TV shows with Audio Description on Prime Video using VoiceView on your Fire TV device.

VoiceView is the screen reader that speaks on-screen text out loud on Amazon devices. As a reminder, to turn on VoiceView, press and hold the *Back* and *Menu* buttons on your Alexa Voice Remote for about two seconds and you will hear “VoiceView Ready.” Pressing those buttons again will turn VoiceView off.

To learn more about the location of buttons and their functions, check out the video on Getting to know your Alexa Voice Remote for Fire TV.

When watching movies and TV shows, Audio Description can provide a more enhanced viewing experience. Audio Description narrates details about actions, characters, scene changes, on-screen text, and other visual content while a movie or TV show is playing.

It is intended for blind and low vision viewers, but audio description makes movies more enjoyable for anyone who might not be looking at the screen or who might benefit from additional context. Audio Description can be a default setting for movies and shows on Prime Video when Audio Description is available for that title. You can enable this while VoiceView is activated.

To set it up, go to the *Main Menu* bar. Go to *Settings* and navigate to *Accessibility*. Scroll down the list and select *Audio Description* and then toggle *“Prime Video– On/Off.”*

Note that Audio Description is also available on a growing set of services such as Netflix and Disney+. Check the video playback or audio settings on those streaming services to use Audio Description.

If you haven’t turned on audio description through Accessibility Settings from the Main Menu Bar, you can enable audio description on the Prime Video title you are currently watching.

First, pause the program you’re watching, then press the *Menu* button. If you have VoiceView enabled, you'll have to press the *Menu* button twice. A short list will appear on the bottom right side of the screen. Scroll to the top and select *Audio.*

Two boxes will appear on the lower left. Select the box under Audio languages titled with the current program language. If Audio Description is available for the program, it will be listed as “Language [Audio Description],” For example: English [Audio Description].

Scroll down to the Audio Description option, press *Select*, then push the *Play-Pause* button to resume your program, now with Audio Description.

It may take a few seconds for audio description to begin.

To turn Audio Description off, follow the same steps but choose the language (without the Audio Description tag) on the final step. For example: English.

Note that enabling Audio Description on a specific Prime Video title does not impact the general Audio Description preferences in Accessibility Settings.

As a reminder, these steps are for specific content on the Prime Video streaming service. Most of the other streaming and playback services have their own setup for using Audio Description with their content.
