Signify accelerates innovation with AWS IoT | Amazon Web Services

Under the Philips Hue brand, Signify have been a leader in smart home lighting. Their Philips Hue brand is synonymous with quality and ease of use. As Signify planned entry to the home security category with Philips Hue Secure, they needed to retain these values, whilst delivering their new product to market at scale, in an accelerated timeframe.

The project objective was to maximize use of the mature existing architecture supporting Hue lighting, however Hue Secure cameras required a different solution - one optimized for battery, video data, and security notifications. AWS serverless technology offered a solution – AWS IoT Core and Amazon Kinesis Video Streams was quickly integrated with the existing Hue ecosystem, adding video capabilities whilst maintaining quality and security.

Using AWS IoT services, Signify delivered the new product to market in just 18 months meeting the high quality expectations of their customer-base and being fully integrated with the Hue ecosystem.
