0:01:50 I've worked with a D-list celeb (a fan fav from Survivor) as part of his "event crew" as photographer and helper. We had some interesting rules and/or roles to fill. For example, we had to be the "bad guys" and end any discussion that went on too long, or off the rails. What kind of rules/roles do you have for your event helpers? And, do your fans ever get frisky and grab your bum or such? (that happened more than I expected).
0:08:39 After 15 odd years together, my partner and I got married a few days ago. It was a beautiful and very private ceremony and we're both over the moon that we get to continue our journey together. I'm wondering if you had any words of wisdom from your own life and marriage that you'd be willing to share for any newlyweds out there?
0:14:02 At the ILM model shop’s wrap party, did reconnecting with those old colleagues feel regrounding to you? You haven’t been in the model making industry for a long time (as a full-time tradesman). How, if at all, disconnected did you feel from that industry after MythBusters and Tested?
0:18:44 The oxygen connectors on the Apollo suit were magnificent pieces of engineering that are mostly hidden. Do you have any other favorite examples of hidden engineering?
0:22:07 Can you remember a moment in your career when people came to you for advice rather than you asking for advice? Basically when you (the apprentice) became the master?
0:25:52 I’m graduating college soon and figuring out my next steps. I feel solid in my skills as a maker, but the job search and interviews feel pretty overwhelming. Any advice?
0:28:34 How do you balance working quickly with avoiding mistakes from rushing? Do you have a rule for when to slow down and think vs. just pushing through? I find that when I try to go as fast as possible, I almost always make dumb mistakes.
0:32:10 After watching your interaction with the original mecha glove I was curious, what in your opinion is more of a challenge: creating a brand new prop e.g. you are hired by a movie to make an epic hero item, the designing, iterations , problem solving, materials decisions etc. OR replicating an epic hero prop, researching the item, working out what was used, reverse engineering different processes etc. Clearly they both have their own obstacles to overcome but do you think one is more "difficult" than the other?
0:38:51 What's your favorite mode of travel when in a different city? Taxi, Lyft, Uber, or a rental car? Or do you just hop on a bus / train to get around?
0:44:08 How do you keep yourself motivated and awake when you get drained and tired later in the days work?
0:48:29 On your last video, you mentioned traveling a lot. As someone who travels constantly for work, I've been struggling to find creative hobbies which keep my mind active, while also being easy to travel with. Have you run into this issue? What advice would you give to a full-time traveler who also loves being a maker?
0:53:30 Given all things being of equal priority, how does one avoid analysis paralysis with an overwhelming number of future projects? I am RIGHT THERE at the moment
0:57:04 Have been reminiscing with the Still Untitled back catalogue on Spotify and just relistened to your Hunter Thompson episode. Curious if you’ve any more thoughts on his legacy given the current media landscape, and whether you believe there could ever be another Hunter in a world where we can be so selective about our “news” delivery methods and never risk being challenged.
