RGB Peripherals - Are they worth it?

RGB lighting may seem to be a trending fad in gaming peripherals lately but there may be more to it than we realize. For casual consumers it may be a way to color match all your gear or just let you admire a color specific build and have your peripherals tie in with a coordinated look. What are your thoughts on this trend? Is it here to stay?
