Welcome to the wild new TWR Supercat.
It’s a restomod, but rather than a universally loved starting point, this limited-edition ‘super-GT’ is built from the bones of a car that was a) maligned on release, b) beset with reliability issues, and c) quite ugly. Perfect for a makeover, then.
The Supercat has been spun off the Jaguar XJS, a car TWR (but likely few others) holds dear to its heart, thanks to a smattering of race wins. Count ‘em: TWR won the European Touring Car Championship, Spa 24hrs and Bathurst in 1984 in the big Jag.
TWR today isn’t TWR from back in the day, mind. Now it’s a new company, albeit one run by Fergus Walkinshaw, son of original TWR founder Tom Walkinshaw.
Anyway, the Supercat… there’s a mad new carbon body, a new interior, new chassis, plus a bored and supercharged 5.6-litre V12 good for around 650bhp.
Over to both Ollie Kew and Ollie Marriage, for the full story…
