Have you ever focused a phone camera at an object and then produced a photo which was way too bright or too dark? We’ve gotten several questions about this “bug” on various smartphone cameras, and we’re sorry to say this is probably a feature, not a bug.

The issue is likely metering, and understanding how your camera decides to adjust exposure based on what you focus on. Let’s dig into this setting on your camera!
