Fing: ETL and Machine Learning for Mobile Network Scanner Web Service

Fing is a free network scanner for iOS and Android. Fing deployed a web service on AWS to ingest network scan data and identify devices. The web service used Amazon EC2 to run their web servers behind an Application Load Balancer. They deployed Hadoop on Amazon EC2 with Amazon Aurora Serverless to provide ETL and Machine Learning to refine and improve their device identification rates. One challenge they had to overcome was how to allow for persistent, long-running network connections from customers' network devices.
