Cloud-based service architectures disaggregate services from the underlying transport network in a virtualized service overlay, but they still depend on it to interconnect end users and transport service traffic. Network Functions Interconnect (NF-IX) takes an open and standards-based approach and leverages proven technology building blocks to minimize deployment time, cost and risk on existing infrastructures.
