INVISTA, a global chemical and fiber manufacturing company, faced a challenge with connecting data across all of its manufacturing plant sites in order to produce actionable insights. According to Elizabeth Gonzalez, analytics learning leader and AI ambassador at INVISTA, “We really needed to think about this more globally, and how do we unlock all of that data we had available to us."
INVISTA turned to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to speed up the pace of innovation for its customers. INVISTA leveraged AWS Snowball to move data from its plant sites quickly to its Amazon S3 data lake. From there, INVISTA uses AWS Glue to catalog its data for easy retrieval by its data scientists, or Amazon Redshift to store data in a data warehouse environment. INVISTA uses Alexa devices in its plant sites, which enables a more user-friendly, voice experience for its employees working in INVISTA warehouses.
"This has enabled us tenfold to do what we anticipated. Mainly, that’s because we’re getting more efficient with our production processes, getting more predictive in our sales visibility and order visibility, so that we can have more proactive discussions with our end customers,” Gonzalez says.
