Join Dr. Pantoja, Assistant Professor at California Polytechnic State University, as she shares her experience of teaching SYCL/oneAPI concepts in her Applied Parallel Computing Class for the first time in spring 2024 after just a couple of months of being introduced to the Educator Program by Intel. The educational material offered felt well developed and mature. It also satisfied the need for students to directly implement and modify the technology via Intel® Tiber™ AI Cloud, without the usual trial and error to make labs challenging but not excessively difficult. Crucially, the content also engaged students with the promise of value in the job market. In her own words: “I thought about adding oneAPI to my class at the end of fall quarter, and I taught in the spring quarter. That would have been impossible without the help of the Educator Program.

Adapting Intel technical content from the Program was a simple path for Dr. Pantoja to provide a solid grounding for students in oneAPI programming. In particular, students and faculty alike praise the ability of the course materials to strike an effective balance between theoretical concepts and practical lab work. The Jupyter notebooks used by Intel Tiber AI Cloud helped students become familiar with the platform in just one day, to quickly start acquiring new knowledge and skills.
