A cool new application was featured today in the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace and it's called "Be a Martian" from NASA. This app is pretty cool since it lets you download NASA imagery of Mars and then you can help analyze it and send the data back to NASA. You can download images from the Mars rovers: Spirit and Opportunity then "tag" the images in order to identify the sky, ground, rover's shadow, etc. In other words, you can help identify what's in the image. You can also download satellite imagery of Mars and tap each crater in order to help count all of the craters on Mars (and of course identify them.) Yes, it's very mundane work, you're not getting paid to do it, and the chances that you'll discover extraterrestrial life this way are very slim, but if you're bored, why not help out NASA a little!

The app also offers access to beautiful imagery, interesting videos/animations, learning resources, and forums where you can ask questions about Mars.
