AWS recommends a multiple account strategy, and provides HIPAA Eligible services for its healthcare and life sciences customers. At UPMC Enterprises, a center for healthcare innovation in the spaces of translational science and technology solutions, the DevSecOps team works diligently to ensure the implementation of HIPAA compliant solutions at scale. By using AWS native tools, UPMC is able to provide centralized configuration management (AWS Config), logging (S3, SQS, Kinesis Streams, and CloudWatch), monitoring and alerting (CloudWatch and SNS), user management (Azure Active Directory and IAM), and patch management (Kubernetes) by leveraging infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, OpsWorks, and Ansible).
