Zane Reynolds, the manager of the data engineering team at Torc Robotics, discusses why Torc Robotics moved away from a traditional data architecture on premises to modern data lakes in the cloud with Amazon S3. Zane also talks through the high volumes of data in the autonomous trucking space and why his primary goal was to create a data lake in Amazon S3 to gain end-to-end insights and breakdown data silos. By building a data lake on S3, Torc Robotics is able to put their data to work to make better, more informed decisions, respond faster to the unexpected, and uncover new opportunities. Zane also highlights how tapping into data lakes allowed teams inside Torc Robotics to move faster and focus on differentiated work compared to building the infrastructure that's needed to answer those questions.
