Looking to upgrade your current storage situation to a new SSD? Transferring data from your old drive to your new one is easy, thanks to Acronis software. This video demonstrates how to do it.

Install the drive
The first step is connecting your new drive to your system. Once connected, download the Kingston SSD Manager, which helps your manage and monitor your new SSD. On opening Kingston SSD Manager you’ll see an Acronis tab. Click it and download for Windows. You can only use the Acronis True Image for Kingston software if you have a Kingston SSD installed in your PC.

Acronis
What is Acronis and why is it important to download? Acronis is a piece of software that offers drive cloning (creating an exact copy of your data on another drive) as well as providing ransomware protection. It’s free for a year for all users with Kingston SSDs. You can extend your subscription or upgrade with advanced features such as antivirus protection, as well as up to 5TB of cloud backup storage, with a 20% discount exclusively for Kingston customers. Cloning process
Once you’re in, under Tools select Clone Disk and the Clone Disk wizard will appear to guide you through the process. Select Automatic and click Next to continue. You’ll be asked to choose the source disk (or the disk you want to clone data FROM). Double check you’ve chosen the right disk, since selecting the wrong disk could totally erase your drive. When you are certain you’ve chosen the correct Source Disk (e.g. the current/old drive) click Next. You’ll be asked to choose the Destination Disk, which will be your new Kingston SSD. If your destination disk already has data on it, you’ll get a warning asking if you’re sure you’d like to proceed. Double and triple check that the Source and Destination disks are correctly chosen. Once chosen, proceed to choose your cloning method and if you are replacing the current drive with your new drive, you can choose “To replace a disk on this machine” and click Next. You’ll see a summary screen showing the new partition structure of the SSD, which will automatically scale based on your new SSD size in relation to your older drive. Select Proceed, and you’ll be asked to restart your computer to complete the cloning process.

That’s everything! Your new SSD is ready to go. Desktop users will need to enter their system’s BIOS and set boot priority to make the new drive the first device from which the system boots. Laptop users will need to disconnect their external enclosure then install the new SSD in their notebooks, referring to their machine’s user manual for step-by-step instructions.
