Lightwave webinar, presented by Nokia and Verizon. Transceivers have long been a staple of optical communications networks. But now we’re seeing coherent pluggable optics take on new roles, particularly in router-to-router links for data center interconnect and service provider IP over DWDM. One of the key elements of this is the advent of ZR optics. Cloud operators like Microsoft, Amazon, and Google have been early adopters of the pluggable coherent modules. Cignal AI said in a recent report that 800GbE module demand continues to grow due to the superior cost and performance of 100Gbps/lane technology, with shipments growing 50% QoQ. Meanwhile, the research firm said that the 400ZR/ZR+ market continues to scale despite its already large size as shipments of pluggable coherent jumped 70% YoY following two-quarters of slower growth. The value of pluggable optics in open-line systems is also becoming more apparent. This webinar describes this trend and explores how such modules can best be employed.
