Optus and Nokia are transforming disaster response in Australia with tethered drone small cells. In a country prone to bushfires, floods and cyclones, the solution delivers rapid, temporary mobile coverage and real-time visibility. Equipped with Nokia’s light-weight Shikra remote radio head, a 360° camera and supported by the Tuuli 6 baseband on the ground, the drones enable fast, secure network integration. They aid command centers in assessing conditions, protecting crews and keeping communities connected when it matters most.
