Our relationship with technology is emotional. We've always had an emotional relationship with our internet things, whether we think of our phone as an extension of our self, a chatbot as a best friend, or a robot as a beloved pet. A decade from now, emotional interactions are likely to become the norm. We may not remember a time when we can't just frown and our devices know that we're dismayed. As emotion-sensing technology moves from an experimental phase to reality, it will change how we design for emotion. Together we will explore what that looks like now and in the near future.
