Galaxy S II VS. Skyrocket - Smartphone Smackdown!
On October 2, AT&T finally released the HSPA+ enabled Samsung Galaxy S II -- a phone we here at TechnoBuffalo love -- to much deserved fanfare. And then, a little over a month later, the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket came along boasting a bigger screen, faster processor and 4G LTE enabled. You'd think that from specs alone there would be a clear winner. Turns out, it's not so cut and dry.
Both are great phones, no question, and which one you choose depends entirely on what is important to you. Do you want a bigger screen and faster internet (assuming you're in an LTE capable area)? Go with the Skyrocket. Do you want faster processor speeds and superior graphics? Go with the Galaxy S II.
In our speed tests, the Galaxy S II, although an "older" device by industry standards, ran out ahead thanks to its dual-core 1.2GHz Exynos processor. Even though the Skyrocket comes equipped with a 1.5GHz processor, the dual-core offering from Qualcomm isn't quite as powerful.
AT&T is currently rolling out an aggressive 4G LTE plan to cities across the nation, so that's something you'll need to consider when deciding which phone is right for you. If LTE was available in our area, we'd go with the Skyrocket because of the faster internet speeds. Again, both are great phones; the winner just boils down to your personal preference.
Galaxy S II vs. Skyrocket, which handset do you think rules them all?
