kingston.com/us/business/case_... “Kingston SSDs enable our video system to deliver the high-resolution capture, zoom-in and replay performance that make us a player in the sports broadcast, government and industry spaces,” says John Kerr, CEO, PsiTech, Inc. PsiTech replaced their Vortex system’s hard drives with Kingston’s shock-resistant, high-capacity, high-performance SSD for their uncompressed video capture solution. The system also uses Kingston RAM in 32, 64 and 128GB configurations. Previously, PsiTech used 30 spinning disks to accomplish video capture. Spinning drives drove up the Vortex footprint to 5 RUs. Hard disk drives did not fare well in customers’ demanding environments. By reducing 30 hard drives to 14 SSDs, managers shrunk the solution’s footprint by 60% from 5RUs to 2RUs.

“The Kingston SSDs were the first to pass our battery of performance tests,” recalls Kerr. “They allow us to store data without losing any image data. And they have the added advantages of using less power and being able to better withstand a lot of mechanical vibration.”

PsiTech delivers high quality video imaging using the company’s Vortex System to captures camera data in uncompressed format which allows sports broadcasters to zoom in on the action at high resolution so that referees can make the right replay call. This is very data-intensive, consuming terabytes of storage to capture a complete game and must read and write massive volumes to manipulate content.
