Microsoft 365 Business Premium helps protect your business against ransomware by preventing potentially dangerous files from being opened in Outlook. This video tutorial will show you how you can increase this protection by adding rules that block or warn you from additional types of files.
From the Microsoft 365 admin center, select the “exchange” admin center and then “mail flow.” Then, open the plus symbol drop-down and select “create a new rule.” Give your rule a name, then scroll to the bottom and select “more options.” Select “apply this rule if…” then “any attachment” then “file extension includes these words…” Use the plus sign to add file names one at a time. Once your list is complete, select “OK.” Then select “add condition” and hit “notify the recipient with a message…” then enter the notification message you want the recipient to see. You can also add exceptions, like not applying the rule when a message is sent from a trusted individual. When recipients receive attachments that the rule applies to, they’ll receive an email that warns them of the possible threat.
